In '66 enthusiast who might not be able to afford one were in for a special treat. For about $15.00
a day and a few cents a mile you could go down to your local Hertz Rent-A-Car and drive out with
a full blown Shelby, specially painted in black with two broad gold stripes. Most of the cars were automatics, and all came equipped with the 289 V8 K Code motor that put out 271 horsepower straight from the factory.
Just like the dealer offered cars, the rental came with a hood mounted air scoop and special hood locking pins
